Yesterday I returned from NYC where I had the honor of attending a three day, beautiful celebration for me and 99 of my colleagues from across the country. The final speaker for the event was Gail Blanke. Each of us received her book "Throw Out Fifty Things: Clear the clutter, Find your life" and we also got to listen to her speak that morning. If you haven't had the chance to hear her, she is so funny, intelligent, and eerily on point (among other things) - you just have to find a way to get her words into your ears. Somehow. YouTube it. Seriously...
So not only am I inspired to change my life and clean it up (clutter is a definite problem in my world), I'm also inspired to start a blog. I've wanted to write for I don't know how long. My husband and I have a phenomenal "meeting" story and everyone that hears it says "You just HAVE to write a book!", but I just didn't know how to get started. Gail specifically spoke about a woman who wanted to write a book (coincidence?), Gail asked "when will it be written"... and there were all kinds of excuses. I've also had all kinds of excuses. "I don't know where to start.... I don't have anything to say.... no one would read it... I don't have time... It's too overwhelming... No one would publish it.... It's easier just to forget I ever had the idea...."
So to get started, I Google'd it. Literally. "How do I become a writer". No kidding. What I found was that people don't become writers. They are writers. They just need put their words in black and white. Ta-dah! A real, live, no-foolin', WRITER! Blogging is a great way to get into the habit of writing daily. It exercises your mind (and fingers), so here I go!
