"SPRINGING" FORWARD TOGETHER...

I'm thrilled to report that the paperback version of Throw Out Fifty Things; Clear the Cutter, Find Your Life hits book stores today! As I've mentioned, the book seems to have struck quite a chord. It's won the prestigious Multiple Sclerosis Society's "Books-for-a-Better-Life" award and is a finalist for the coveted "audie" - the audio book version of the Oscar.

I don't think I realized when I wrote "Fifty Things" just how overwhelmed most of us are with the "stuff" of our lives. And I don't just mean the too-tight sweaters, the single earrings or the mismatched socks. I mean the mental and emotional debris that's cluttered our minds, curbed our confidence and just plain cramped our style. I call it "life plaque" - and it's time to blast our way through it. It's spring, for God's sake - the time of renewal and reinvention. But you can't invent the future if you're constantly sucked back into the past. My mantra is: "You can't grow if you don't let go."

So what'll it be? Stay stuck or get crackin'? It's not even all that hard. Start small. Spend ten minutes - in your medicine chest, in the cupboard with your pots and pans, in that drawer in the kitchen. (You know that drawer.) And hey, what about those old grudges? How about the times you messed up? How about dumping that feeling that you're just not "enough"... you know: smart enough, talented enough, attractive enough, young enough....? You get the picture.

This is the moment. This is the time to let it go. Not when the dust settles, not when the children are older, not when the planets are aligned, not when the "sign" finally appears. Now.

This is your sign.

So start throwing stuff out, okay? And encourage the people you love to do the same thing. Before you know it we'll have created a movement of people who are helping each other let go of the past and move forward. We could change the world.
