I have been able to keep up the "50" since I first read Gail's article in Real Simple several years ago. Every once in awhile my husband will join me as I announce "It is time to do another 50." It is so liberating! We are avid recyclers and try to live green. Some of the TV shows (HGTV) have excellent re-purpose ideas. Some Christmas things are being recycled, some are donated. The closets are being cleared. We have "done 50" in time for this year's tax deduction! I am helping prep for a relatives estate sale. Thank goodness I will not pass down such huge accumulation of worthless clutter. Yet, there are a few fun or sentimental finds among the mess.

So many of you are doing great, especially if this is your first 50! Don't fear! It is easy to keep it going. You will most likely find yourself giving it a second thought before you make new purchases. I found that keeping a box of Throw-outs (give away, donate, trash, whatever)is an easy way to keep the momentum. It really has become a habit in this household and we can tell when it is time to do another 50. We actually have not done very well on the garage so far, but it is the summer goal.… Continue
