Monday Morning Motivator: BECOMING MRS. DOUBTFIRE

BECOMING MRS. DOUBTFIRE      Not so long ago, there was a piece on CNN where their chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, talked about what it takes to be truly creative. He interviewed rappers, jazz musicians and stand-up comics, among others, and it turns out that what it all boils down to is, "letting go." (No surprise there, right?) And of course, it's true. If you want to create something truly new - in any medium, in any arena, in any endeavor - if you really want to "make it…See More

Monday Morning Motivator: A "TAPAS" APPROACH TO LIFE...

A "TAPAS" APPROACH TO LIFE...   I love tapas. I really do. I love those very small plates of delicious morsels - like marinated olives mixed with bits of Manchego or warm almonds fried in olive oil, sprinkled with salt and served while they're still warm - or toasted bread spread with a dollop of roasted garlic aioli and topped with marinated sardines or red peppers... Seriously, I can taste them right now. Did you know that "tapas" comes from the word "tapar," which means "to cover" and that…See More

Monday Morning Motivator: YOU COME, TOO...

YOU COME, TOO...  Ever since I can remember, I've Ioved this simple, soothing poem by Robert Frost...                   The Pasture  "I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;I'll only stop to rake the leaves away(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):I sha'n't be gone long.-You come too.  I'm going out to fetch the little calfThat's standing by the mother. It's so young,It totters when she licks it with her tongue.I sha'n't be gone long.-You come too." "You come, too." What a loving…See More

Monday Morning Motivator: SWEET SURRENDER

SWEET SURRENDER The first book I wrote was called, Taking Control of Your Life, the secrets of successful, entrepreneurial women. Its mission was to encourage women to create the lives of their dreams by creating businesses they loved. And it was pretty good, too - sold over a half million copies. And I stand by the premise. I'd better. I've been running a business that I love for almost twenty years...  But now I'm recommending that you consider taking action on another of my favorite topics.…See More

Gail Blanke commented on Gail Blanke's blog post MMM: WHERE'S DIOGENES WHEN WE NEED HIM?
"I agree 100% my fellow Greek Diogenes today would have broken his lamp! What I hate more than anything when I hear from a commercial to a politician outright lies. Not only insults once intelligence but sends the message only way…"

MMM: WHERE'S DIOGENES WHEN WE NEED HIM?

WHERE'S DIOGENES WHEN WE NEED HIM?  Remember him? The founder of Cynical Philosophy, he was called "Diogenes the Cynic" and lived in Greece from 412 to 323 BC. Ancient Greek writings credit Diogenes with the famous search for an "honest man" which he conducted in broad daylight, carrying a lighted lantern. Evidently, he never found one. I'm not Diogenes, nor was meant to be; I'm not even a cynic, but it sure would be great to run into an "honest man" - or woman - out there, wouldn't it? But…See More

Monday Morning Motivator:TAKE IT SLOW...

TAKE IT SLOW... More than a few decades ago, before we were married, Jim and I flew down to Haiti for a brief get-away vacation in Port au Prince, the capital. We stayed at The Hotel Oloffson, a great favorite of the writer, Graham Greene, who used it as the setting for the "Hotel Trianon" in his 1966 novel, The Comedians. The Oloffson is a 19th century gothic, gingerbread mansion set in a lush tropical garden, high in the mountains overlooking the city. "Romantic" doesn't even begin to…See More

Monday Morning Motivator: BECOMING WHAT WE HATE...

BECOMING WHAT WE HATE... I can't remember exactly when I first heard the phrase, "We become what we hate..." I think it was in a college philosophy class. It hit me pretty hard at the time. Still does. Now more than ever. Maybe it's because there are so many "hateful" things going on "out there" - and even "in here..." So, not surprisingly, our focus is on how truly awful "it" is. And...it is. But to actually become the very thing we abhor is an appalling thought - whether you're an individual,…See More

Thanks for your encouragement! I wouldn't describe myself as a hoarder, but once in awhile I get distracted & things start to build up.

Just finished listening to the book, loved it, have started to listen again for continued motivation! Was sitting with my husband late last night at the kitchen island deep in discussion, when out of the blue, he said, "have I ever told you how much I hate that stuff there on the window sill?" It took me about 5 seconds to jump up, grab every item and every plant except the aloe (JUST in case) and ran to the trash can. Wiped off the sill, added my favorite little pitcher (an immediate warm memory for me of my 1960's childhood, no longer lost among the clutter!) and instantly felt 100% better! Thanks for helping me remember that less can be more!

Hi Gail! I am sorry I was out of touch for so long. But you will be happy to know that I was working on the program. I am almost finished and have learned a lot about myself. I will be writing about my discoveries and realizations in the coming weeks. Through this process I finally found the strength to make an important decision. It was not easy but it was right. More to come....

What did I throw out? The cat, of course!
Naw, only kidding. That's Temujin, my fierce warrior pal. If he had his way, I'd be throwing out a lot more.
I started in the bedroom today and finding lots. The bedroom has been a place to hid my junk from visitor's eyes. Besides clothing, I am getting rid of an old aquarium that does really make me feel bad. I wasn't so good about keeping those fish alive.

I have a question, When will the workbook be available?
