Monday Morning Motivator-"Land The Plane..."

"LAND THE PLANE..." That's what our younger daughter (one of the funniest people I know) says to me when I go on and on and on (and on) about something - it could be anything - from a meeting I had,  to an outfit I'm thinking of wearing for a speech, to a movie I watched. Sometimes she follows it with, "You didn't realize that I stopped listening five minutes ago, did you?" So I've gotten into the habit of making myself cut straight to the chase - usually just a split second before her eyes…See More

Monday Morning Motivator-"PAUSE/RESET"

"PAUSE/RESET"  I was working out in a gym on a treadmill the other day and spotted those words. Wow, I thought. I need to do that - not in my workout - in my life... like on a daily basis. You know what I mean: Life has a way of momentarily getting the best of us - we flip out because the traffic's so bad that we're going to be at least 15 minutes late to a meeting it took six weeks to schedule. Or, the flight that we killed ourselves to make, was canceled - twice - thanks to bad weather and we…See More

Monday Morning Moticator-"I'M GLAD I'M HERE..."

"I'M GLAD I'M HERE..." Those are the first four words of the mantra my mentor, the late Dorothy Sarnoff - arguably the best speech coach in the country - taught me. Dorothy knew how to capture and move an audience. She was the second female lead in the original Broadway production of "The King and I" (among numerous other shows) and eventually created her own firm to help many great people, like Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin and the "Great Communicator" himself, Ronald Reagan, "own the room."…See More

Monday Morning Motivator- OWN IT!

OWN IT!Sometimes I think we treat ourselves like we're one of those little wood-burning stoves. You know what I mean: Something good happens - our  presentation gets great reviews, somebody says they love our outfit or our hair - or that we look, uh, "younger..." Or we run into our favorite teacher from high school who tells us that we were his "best" student. Or a guy on a bike whistles at us. (Yeah, baby.) And for a moment, we smile, nod, make a hand gesture like the golfer who sinks the long…See More

Monday Morning Motivator-NOT THIS LIFETIME...

NOT THIS LIFETIME...Okay, it's time to clear the decks - time to actually decide what we're going to do - and what we aren't. It's time to actually finish the unfinished business of our lives. Past time, actually. Because here's the thing, if we don't, if we allow all the "incompletions" of our lives to continue to build up - like plaque - we clog the vital arteries to our minds, our hearts, our futures... So here's a really simple process to follow; it won't hurt, it won't even be hard. And…See More

Monday Morning Motivator-DON'T RIDE AN ELEPHANT...to kill a grasshopper"

My husband, Jim, taught me this wonderful, old Thai expression. (I wish I could say it in Thai, like he can..) And boy, is it good advice. It might even be worth following. And it might not be all that easy at first. Especially for some of us...You know those people (they seem to be multiplying like rabbits...) who, when the smallest mistake is made or the tiniest thing goes wrong (there's a typo in the presentation, it turns out the restaurant is closed on Monday's, the package isn't delivered…See More

Thanks for your encouragement! I wouldn't describe myself as a hoarder, but once in awhile I get distracted & things start to build up.

Just finished listening to the book, loved it, have started to listen again for continued motivation! Was sitting with my husband late last night at the kitchen island deep in discussion, when out of the blue, he said, "have I ever told you how much I hate that stuff there on the window sill?" It took me about 5 seconds to jump up, grab every item and every plant except the aloe (JUST in case) and ran to the trash can. Wiped off the sill, added my favorite little pitcher (an immediate warm memory for me of my 1960's childhood, no longer lost among the clutter!) and instantly felt 100% better! Thanks for helping me remember that less can be more!

Hi Gail! I am sorry I was out of touch for so long. But you will be happy to know that I was working on the program. I am almost finished and have learned a lot about myself. I will be writing about my discoveries and realizations in the coming weeks. Through this process I finally found the strength to make an important decision. It was not easy but it was right. More to come....

What did I throw out? The cat, of course!
Naw, only kidding. That's Temujin, my fierce warrior pal. If he had his way, I'd be throwing out a lot more.
I started in the bedroom today and finding lots. The bedroom has been a place to hid my junk from visitor's eyes. Besides clothing, I am getting rid of an old aquarium that does really make me feel bad. I wasn't so good about keeping those fish alive.

I have a question, When will the workbook be available?
i think your website needs a FAQ's section because I'm pretty tech savy and it confuzzles me.
I couldn't finish the my name is -------and I'm the one who--------- statement on my own so i posted it on facebook and waited for my friends to finish it. Some of my former H.S. students gave interesting answers
