The wine bottles went...

From the title you might think this is a post about a "grand old time" of singing songs and unmentionable craziness, but alas it is about finally dumping a bunch of empty wine bottles.   I digress for clarification... I will never forget the one day when I was a in High School, my Mom decided it was time to clean my bedroom.  I was a "creative".  I needed my collections for inspiration!  The shells, rocks, beer cans, cereal boxes, candy wrappers, all the Barbie Dolls and anything else that fell…See More

Snow Day!

So here it is!  That elusive day every kid dreams of...SNOW DAY!!! I had forgotten all about the joy of hearing that announcement that included your school on that fine snowy morning.  But recently I have a new admiration for the Snow Day.  As the "Boss" I get to say when and whenever I want to "take the day off".  In reality those words are rarely ever spoken or thought for that matter. …See More

Letting Grandma Mom's Car Go

My daughter Holly had inherited my Mother's 1994 Saturn when she passed away in late 2003 after a bout with lung cancer. Having driven station wagons most of her life to chauffer us kids, the Saturn was the first car she chosen for herself.  She had told me she wanted Holly to have it.  It had approximately 9,000 miles on it when she took it over. Holly has been very hard on everything practically since she born.  As a baby Holly gnawed the rails of her crib like a gerbil.  As a toddler with a…See More

Beware of the post holiday bargains!

Newly re-energized to complete my mission to clear out the clutter, I am finding I own much more space than I had previously realized!  Drawer space, cabinet space, CLOSET SPACE, even room space.  I went out to pick up some needed items for my cat and what I found was a plethora of new un-needed items calling my name!  X-mas 75% off, red ticket fashions and MORE!  My old habits kicked in as I began rationalizing why it was a GREAT idea to stock up on purple garland and matching glass ornaments…See More

A New Year Approaches...Resolutions or Regrets Anyone?

On my to-do list 3 months ago I had a specific task written in sharpie red ink KEEP UP YOUR THROW OUT 50 THINGS MISSION!!!!.  Obviously I fell prey to being human and sadly if I had a tail it would be tucked between my legs as I sheepishly return.  On the bright side I have learned a bit about myself and my "50 things mission".  First, originally I was going through the motions.  Throwing things out, throwing things out and throwing things out.  Then it occurred to me that I wasn't getting much…See More

Avoiding the elephant does not make it go away...

In cases such as mine, one day you look in the mirror and you have become the elephant. No it's not that you will see me on posted the covers of the tabloids under the head line "The Incredible Elephant Woman!" Featuring a very photoshopped grey toned face on a circus elephants body (or vise-versa). I just noticed today just how much everything that I have let go has taken it's toll on me! Instead of being able to enjoy my clutter free home and life, I have somehow managed to gather more…See More

Not Feeling Too Springy...

Spring Cleaning! Somehow it seems like I am becoming more buried than ever in this process! Things that were strategically tucked away in hiding are now exposed to the world, correction my world. And to add insult to injury on of my daughters moved last week and of course some of the furniture moved back home. How does that happen?I guess the excitement that archeologist feel when they uncover an ancient tomb, is also followed by the realization that they are now going to have to clean up.…See More

Lost 50 hours somewhere

Wow, haven't been back here since 3/4 and I thought the last 2+ days had slipped by! There goes over a week into oblivion. Why is it that all good intentions seem to be in constant battle with time? Sun Tzu says that all battles are won before they begin. The strategy is to force the enemy to reveal himself, then we can take them on with no surprises. But time is a deep thing to take on. Along the way man has mandated that all things be cut into nice little 24 hour blocks, that grow into days,…See More

Throwing out 50 words of wisdom from DM Thompson

All of what you become tomorrow started yesterday. As you read this the thoughts will form actions that will determine where you will ultimately end up. Don't like where it's going? Just for a moment look back at yesterday and let it go. Look forward, moving into your dream life.DM THOMPSONhttp://www.goldenmarkltd.comSee More

50 x 10+ GONE!

Sometimes we don't think about the new world of "electronic clutter", e-mails, news letters, and the like. SPAM filters help clear the path a bit but there are still all those mails we ASK FOR! Yesterday I made a conscious effort to remove all the "e-clutter" from my virtual life. I made folders for the things, I would like to read or just want to keep and important e-mails in 3 categories; personal, business and reference. My virtual life was becoming out of control! This project of throwing…See More

My Fifty Cents

Pike St. Market Fish - Photo by DM Thompson with thoughts by an Indian Proverb

Sometimes, doesn't letting go make us feel like something is missing? Well you are right! However, what is missing may be something that was holding us down or back and better left behind.

Mr. Pike St. Fish reminds us that as we move forward to be careful that we are not buying into something that is not there. Just because the market is full today does not necessarily mean that tomorrow's catch will not be swept away at sea in a storm and return nothing. Invest wisely in yourself and your future.

Flower on the Walk - Photo by DM Thompson with thoughts by Ralph Waldo Emmerson

Sometimes imperfection creates a beautiful scenario. I was walking along in San Diego, CA and woven in the fabric of the street there she was on the ground in full bloom. Like a lost puppy, I just had to bring her home with me.

I have taken on this quest of throwing out fifty things and realize straight away that it is not enough. So I have decided to take the theme to the extreme and throw out, get rid of or banish 50 things a day, for no less than 50 days. Starting with a 50 hour cinnamon fast/cleanse. It will be a warm beverage consisting of fresh lemon, honey and cinnamon and plain water for me :)

A few Cinnamon Fast facts...
Cinnamon bark contains antiseptic properties that help to prevent infection by killing decay-causing bacteria, fungi, and viruses
Lemon juice is renowned for its dietetic properties. It is a powerful cleanser that at the same time revitalizes digestive systems troubled by a poor diet
Surprising Honey Properties -- antimicrobial, antioxidant, and hygroscopic which all make honey a popular food and medicine
and it's yummy ;) but check with your doctor to see if it's right for you!

And as per Gail's suggestion, here is my song...

Suddenly I See

"Suddenly I See"

Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
You can hear she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white
Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember
What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on her word

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine
Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower
A big strong tower
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
