Throw Out Fifty Things

What "it" have you de-cluttered from your life today?

For me, I was able to get rid of the files left behind by a previous boss. Not the one I have now, not the one who was there before him, but the one before that! I'm quite certain I don't need his stuff in my files anymore.

I also threw out all the Post-Its stuck to my computer. Whee!!

up stairs and tossed

old magazines
christmas yucks
and other small stuff but it all came to 50. It did not make me feel any better
but tomorrow will help as the garbage man comes- I always feel better once it has left the area.
then I know it can not come back.
I felt very overwhelmed and just wanted to hire some one plus a dumpster
and toss it all- there is really very little up there that I want to keep.
this is a bad Meme day- feeling angry at the cancer that took my hubby away before we could do this together.
tomorrow is a new day.
Hugs, Meme! It's always hard to go through stuff, and to do it alone, when you feel like you're violating your hubby's wishes, whether you are or not, makes it even harder. Good for you for powering through it, and for sharing with us. Congratulations! I think that makes 51 things today.

Thank you, Heather-
I did get rid of the garbage that I got out for our sanitation man and now I have another bag for next week- if only papa hubby would have collected stamps--LOL but he was a wood crafter and a rock hound and every thing he had weighs a lot- plus I have a hairline fracture in my back and so I have to rethink everything that I do.
yesterday was the eldest daughters birthday and I gave her a gift from me plus I gave her a beautiful hand made mug that she gave her dad when she was around 4 years old. A sweet sorrow but I know it means a lot to her and also the fact that her dad used it for over 35 years.
so yes. I did continue on ...........and I will skip the list.
huggles from Meme- today a year ago is the day that my husband left our home for good to go into pallitive care- I am glad I have been able to let go of his things now- it is a bittersweet day but it is also a blessing for me as it releases my attachment to his things.
I had this old book cupboard that had seen better days and even the books could not hide the ugly-
so I cleaned it out- packed some books for give away and found good places for the keepers and then
I tossed that battered and worn book case out- it is in the dump pile which is growing-
I have to wait for a truck load as it cost * 8 dollars whether you have one thing or twenty.
It sure looks nice-- gone-

Hooray for floor space! Way to go, Meme!

I finally finished my divorce paperwork today! It's taken four years to make it happen. So today I'm throwoing away four years of bad feelings, disappointment, frustration and loss. I'm making room for happiness, independence and responsibility!
I was just reading the chapter on clearing out the bathroom today. I found an old razor in the medicine cabinet that is my son's (he's been married two years). He came for a visit today and was excited to take the razor home with him! Yea! That's 1 item gone!!
to day- a scratched up tin tray that was being used by me- went looking about the house and found a non- scratched tray that fits even better--
I gave the library 5 books in good condition that if they cannot use for lending- they can go in the sell for funds to buy what they do not have.
I am throwing out so much stuff it's crazy! The absolutely insane part is that I purged a lot of stuff in our last move...got rid of at least 3 Jeep fulls of stuff...Good Will Loved me! How is it that I still have more to go? My silliest thing I've gotten rid of is a jar of sand! Don't ask! Very liberating for personal reasons!

I can't believe the amount of old things I have kept just because I've always kept them! I have brought several items with me across the miles and I wonder why! Things I never even look at much to say the least need!

I am at 70 items and I still have to finish my office and I haven't even started on the garage yet!
Donna- things do add up and yes. sometimes I think we do not take notice of what we allow to stack up-
I too am still on the adventure of ''out of here.''

hugs from Meme as you free up space and your life.
I am new to this, just started reading the book yesterday. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm not exactly doing the dejunking in an orderly fashion, rather I'm just finding things each time I go into a room.

Here is what I have thrown out (or given away) so far:

1) An old (empty) wallet
2) The remote control that came with a laptop
3) An ugly mouse pad
4) Oodles of twist ties
5) Medicine dosage cups that come with cold medicines
6) Miscellaneous outdated paperwork
7) A lint roller for pet hair that I never use
8) Some toys
9) My student ID from graduate school
10) Half-used bottles of shampoo
11) Religious medals that are not particularly meaningful to me
12) Some hotel freebies of cheap conditioning shampoo
13) Medicines that I don't use anymore

I love this!!!

Regards,

Nancy in FL
