THIS IS IT...
If there ever were a time, if there ever were a year when we had to toss out the "old" to make way for the "new," this is it. I'm not kidding. And you have to be well, ruthless. Take a look at everything you've got packed around yourself - the emotional as well as the physical stuff - and ask yourself these three questions: Does it make me happy? Do I really, really need it? Would I pass it on to my children or other people I love? If you can't answer yes to at least one of those questions, it's got to go. Donate it, sell it or recycle it. Of course, it's tough to sell, recycle or even donate old grudges or negative people - but you never know. I can see the ad on E-Bay or Craig's List... "Deep-seeded anger towards old boss for sale, no reasonable offer refused." Or, "Old, pessimistic, ultra critical, no longer 'hot' boyfriend available for the taking; free shipping." What do you think? This is the time to be gutsy. This is the time to renew yourself and everything around you. This is the time to ask that big, fat, wonderful question: "How good could I make it?" Remember that woman who blogged on throwoutfiftythings.com that she'd been driving by a church somewhere in the Southwest and in front of the church was a sign? And the sign read, "If you've been waiting for the sign, this is it." When she got back home, she let go of absolutely every single thing that weighed her down or held her back. And I mean everything - from old meds for old illnesses - to old love letters from old loves - to old memories from not-so-happy, old times. Not surprisingly, it changed her life. You can change yours, too. All you have to do is decide. And as it turns out, this is the moment to do it. You've got new people to meet, new memories to make, new possibilities to grab hold of - and new energy to tap into. So if you've been waiting for the sign...this is it.
