STORED ANXIETIES
That's what we do. We store all our old fears - you know, the fear of failing, of not being good enough, of it just not working out, of being too old, too late, too tired, too... whatever. Then we can haul them out when things are iffy or dull - or even when things are going eerily well and we don't want to assume too much, take anything good for granted or heaven forbid, jinx anything. So we examine and re-examine all that stuff and completely ruin an otherwise pretty good day, or a decent night's sleep. I mean, why wait to be unhappy, right? One woman I know has her "stored anxieties" all neatly labeled in her mind bank: "Money," "Work," "Parents," "Kids," "Health," etc., and then she has all these sub-categories, like "Retirement," "Insurance," "Being Laid Off," "Money for College," "Gaining Weight," "Taking Too Many Pills," "Smoking Too Much," "Drinking Too Much," I mean, it's endless. Hey, we've got all our extraneous physical stuff (I call it the "debris of indecisions") stashed in storage rooms and lockers that we pay hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars for every year, don't we? Listen, we could do the same thing with our emotional debris. Storage companies could make a fortune! Imagine the ad: "Worried You'll Forget Your Worries? Store Them With Us...and You Can Re-visit Them Anytime!" C'mon... fuhgettaboutit! This is the perfect time to dump all that stuff. Remember: You can't grow if you don't let go. You can't move forward if you're dragged back by all that irrelevant, mind-numbing "life plaque" you've packed around yourself. Cancel your contract with that storage company. Let it go. How? One day at a time. Starting today.
