Throw Out Fifty Things

"Do Not Distress Yourself... ...with dark imaginings." This is a line from Max Ehrman's poem, Desiderata. But we do it all the time. This is the week to stop. Here's why: When we fear all the bad stuff that could happen, we ruin all the good stuff that is happening. I've heard "fear" defined as "False Evidence Appearing Real." We act as if our "dark imaginings" are already reality. They aren't. Let's not give them the power to sap our energy, our optimism and especially our creativity. Not now. Not when we've got a brand new year in front of us. Not when the world needs what we can uniquely offer - so much more than ever. So do not distress yourself, you got it?

Dark Imaginings, what a perfect way to describe the fear that so often paralyzes us and robs our joy and our strength.
